About

Four by Three: 25 years of architectural know-how, turned into design-focused imagery.

Four by Three was founded in 2025 by Gary, who brings over 25 years of experience in the architectural sector. He began as an architectural assistant before moving into visualisation and spent more than a decade as a 3D Artist, first at an AJ100 architectural practice in Leicester, then with Glass Canvas, a leading visualisation studio, remotely supporting both their London and Sheffield offices.

During that time he worked on projects for some of the most respected architectural and interior design firms, across locations around the globe. In 2025, he took that experience out on his own and set up Four by Three, combining a background in architecture with years of high-end visualisation work.

Every image we create starts with a story. Before a single model is built, we look at what the design is trying to say: who it’s for, how it will be lived in, and what makes it distinct. That narrative shapes the composition, the light, the mood and the small details that make a scene feel real, so each image carries the design intent rather than simply showing the building.

Today, we deliver compelling, design-led imagery rooted in a real understanding of how buildings are designed, built and used by the people who occupy them.

Photography is my real-world counterpart to the renders: same obsession with light, form and composition, just through a lens.

Away from being a 3D artist, photography is my other passion. Visualising buildings that don’t exist yet has trained my eye for light, composition and atmosphere, and I like testing that eye on the real thing. I’m drawn to the clean lines of modern architecture and to the layered, ever-changing world of graffiti and street art.

Whether I’m on a trip around the UK or across Europe, I’m usually looking for how light and colour change a place. You can find my architectural photography on this site HERE, or see more of my personal photographic work at garyargent.uk.

Services

From the first sketch to the final detail, we guide every project with care, clarity, and genuine dedication.

Still Images

Custom Residential Design

Still images can be produced using either 2D drawings or, where available, a 3D model. Depending on your requirements, the visuals can be created entirely digitally or through a hybrid approach that combines 3D-generated elements with on-site photography.

A fully digital approach provides complete control over lighting, weather and camera angles, while a hybrid approach requires alignment with the details present in the captured photographs. If you require exterior, interior or product imagery, please use the button below to request further information.

Verified Views

Renovation & Extension

Verified photomontages of proposed architectural projects can be produced to support planning applications or enhance marketing materials.

In partnership with Castle Surveys Ltd., our team manages the entire process, from agreeing viewpoints with the local authority to delivering fully verified views and supporting documentation ready for planning submission. Further details on how the verified view service can support your planning submission can be requested using the button below.

Animations + Cinemagraphs

Feasibility & Site Studies

Animation

We use CGI animation to turn plans and concepts into engaging visual stories. Spatial flow, materiality, lighting and atmosphere come across with cinematic clarity, helping architects, clients and end users understand a design long before it’s built. From early concept communication to detailed walkthroughs, animation elevates presentations, supports planning submissions and makes the intent of a project clear.

Cinemagraphs

Cinemagraphs bring still images to life. Crafted entirely in 3D, they add subtle, continuous motion that gives a scene depth and realism: a curtain stirring in the breeze, dappled light shifting across a wall. That small movement makes a static image far more captivating, which is why they work so well for advertising and social media.

Photography

Good visualisation starts with good photography. Whether you need backplates for CGI, site photography for verified views (AVRs) or images of a completed building, the photography has to be right before anything else can be.

I'm a working visualiser as well as a photographer, with over 25 years in 3D. I know what happens to a photograph once it reaches the modelling and compositing stage, so I shoot with that in mind from the start.

I work with architects, developers, planning consultants and other visualisers across Leicestershire, the East Midlands and the wider UK.
